Dm

Verso 1:

Dm C F Last night I had the strangest dream that I have ever dreamed F Dm I was a boy again, just barely in my teens. F Bb F Wandering through the woods and hills, that tower above our town. Bb F C Dm And in the rocks and brush the entrance to a cave I found.

Verso 2:

Dm C F And like most any young boy would, I crawled into the cave. F Dm And through the damp dark darkness then I slowly made my way F Bb F Tunnel after tunnel going this old way and that, Bb F C Dm until suddenly I knew I didn't know where I was at.

Verso 3:

Dm C F I tried to find the way out, but it seemed to be in vain. F Dm The more I tried the more confused and frightened I became. F Bb F At last, in sheer exhaustion I collapsed and feel asleep, Bb F C Dm until the distant roaring sound of thunder wakened me.

Verso 4:

Dm C F The thunder boomed, the earth it shook, I trembled in my fear. F Dm Surly this must be the worst storm in a thousand years. F Bb F And all the time the fury of the storm just seemed to grow, Bb F C Dm until suddenly it ended with a great earth quaking blow.

Verso 5:

Dm C F I then began to crawl around, and watch - a stroke of luck! F Dm I saw above a tiny light and so I followed up. F Bb F And soon I crawled from out of what I thought would be my grave, Bb F C Dm and what I saw it made me wish I was back down in the cave.

Verso 6:

Dm C F For there was not a blade of grass, a tree or bush around. F Dm Not even one small bug that's crawling on the parts burnt ground. F Bb F And looking down the hill I saw the shambles of our town - Bb F C Dm Where people used to live before the bomb came down.
